Strategic Planning Community Planing Session

On Saturday, January 23^rd over 70 members of the wider community met at Prairieview School to review goal progress and discuss new goals to help guide the District for the next three years. The planning groups included parents, staff members, representatives from other local public entities, members of the Board of Education and members of the community.

This session was facilitated by Dr. Susan Schwicardi and Dr. William Schewe of S & S Educational Consulting. The group reviewed data from 21 focus groups, over 750 student surveys, over 450 parent surveys and staff surveys. During the course of the day members of the planning group met in small groups to develop priority goals which were then reduced to five critical goals per group. The day culminated with a large group session in which each small group shared their five goals with the large group. Working with the facilitators the large group then prioritized the suggested goals.

These priority goals will be developed into District goals for approval by the Board of Education over the next few months. Thanks to everyone who participated in this process this year. Watch for the new goals on our website at www.ccsd66.org. It was a great day!

Busy Weekend in Center Cass SD 66

This will be a busy weekday in Center Cass SD 66! Tomorrow more than 75 members of the school and wider community will meet and take part in a brainstorming session as part of our tri-annual Strategic Planning Process . Representatives will gather at Prairieview Elementary School to help chart the course of the District for the next three years. This event is valuable to the District because it provides us with community input and ideas to strengthen and enhance our programs for our students. This will be an exciting day and will be facilitated by Dr. William Schewe and Dr. Susan Schwicardi of S&S Educational Consulting of Wheaton. Sunday the Spartan 8th grade basketball team coached by Mr. Tom Dodd goes to battle in the 9th annual Mayor's Good will Basketball Classic in Lisle. The tournament will be held at Walker Sports Center in Lisle. The Spartans first game begins at 11:00 am against O'Neill Junior High. Good luck Spartans! Have a good weekend!

First Week of School

We have had a busy week returning to school from the winter break. Students returned to a very cold week with lots of snow and very cold weather. In spite of the weather buses ran on time safely transporting students to and from school each day. Thanks to our safe and dependable bus drivers for a great job and to our maintenance staff for keeping our parking lots and sidewalk clear and salted.

In spite of the weather, there was a flurry of student activity this week with the Westmont Rotary Basketball Tournament for both boys and girls which began on Tuesday afternoon and continues through the weekend after canceling the games scheduled for Thursday evening. Good luck to our athletes and their coaches Mr. Dodd and Mr. Little. The Lakeview Chorus will be participating in the Downers Grove South High School choral Festival on Tuesday, January 12^th. This event was also postponed by the weather last Thursday.
