Ide Playground Dedicated

The Ide Playground Committee was formed last spring to raise funds for a new playground at Ide School. This committee working very closely with the Ide PTO, staff, parents, students and local businesses raised over $50,000 for a new playground which was installed this summer. On August 29th, the new playground was dedicated and opened for use by the students. Congratulations to the Playground Committee and all of our volunteers who dedicated countless hours to this fine project that will benefit generations of Ide students. New Teacher Contract

The Center Cass Teachers’ Association and the Center Cass School District 66 Board of Education have completed the ratification of a new master contract. Using the Interest Based Bargaining Process and the assistance of the school attorney and IEA Uniservce Director teams were trained in the negotiating process and those new skills were used to develop a new contract. This process began with training in January of 2007 and progressed through the spring and summer. This process focuses on interests and the development of options to meet mutually agreed upon interests. Representatives from both teams were pleased with the strong relationships that were developed between the teams as we worked through the process. This agreement will benefit both the teachers and the District! The agreement will be in effect for 2007 through 2012.

School Begins

Regular classes resumed yesterday for 1239 eager young learners who were welcomed by dedicated and caring teachers. The year is off to a good start and everything is operating smoothly. Buses ran on schedule and with few problems throughout the day. Thanks to our parents for their help as traffic congestion around school has been minimal and cars have been following the designated traffic patterns. This will be a great year!

School Opens Soon

Preparations are almost complete for the start of the 2007-2008 school year. New staff members report on August 14th for three days of orientation and training. All staff report on Thursday, August 23rd and 24th for opening institute. The District Open House will be held on Monday, August 27th from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and full day classes begin on Tuesday, August 28th.

If you have not registered your children for school there will be a registration day held on Monday, August 13th from 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Prairieview School, 699 Plainfield Road, Downers Grove, IL. Late Registration is scheduled for Tuesday, August 21st from 8:00 a.m. until noon at Prairieview School. After that, registration will be conducted by appointment at each building during normal business hours.
