Accomplishments for 2005-2006

Center Cass School Dist 66 is pleased to share the following accomplishments:

Communication was increased between District 66 and the staff of Downers Grove South to improve the transition of students from the middle school to the high school.

A review of staff credentials was completed to ensure that all District teachers are highly qualified under the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) legislation.

A success co-teaching program was implemented at Lakeview Junior High School utilizing both regular education and special education teachers teaching together to meet the needs of all students within the classroom.

A detailed study of the District Language Arts program in grades K-8 was completed. This study consisted of a needs assessment, and assessment of the current program, a research of the professional literature, and a thorough review of available teaching materials. The Language Arts Committee consisted of representatives from each grade level of the elementary schools and members of the language arts team at the middle school. In April 2006 this committee made their report and recommendations for enhancing this program to the board of education. The revised program will go into effect with the start of the 2006-2007 school year.
